Calling All Ladies 15-25 and Makeup Artists! Be featured in my next blog post!

So I'm working on a huge blog post. Huge. Inspiration struck while in the shower and I want quotes. From as many people as possible. So email me, write in the comments, tweet me, post on my Facebook, the answers to these questions.

Makeup Wearers/General Public:

How do you feel about makeup?
Has social media ever made you feel like you HAD to wear makeup?
Have you ever tried to over draw your lips?
Have you ever worn fake eyelashes?
Have you ever tried to contour?
Have you ever thought about getting plastic surgery?
Have you ever wanted to fake tan/skin bleach?
What’s your biggest style inspiration?
How do you feel when you can’t follow a particular beauty trend (overdrawing/contouring/filled in eyebrows)?
Have you ever been made fun of (seriously) because you didn’t wear makeup/makeup was too natural?
If you didn’t know (bonus if you really don’t know) how old would you think Kylie Jenner is?
Do you think the Kardashian/Jenner family should be beauty icons? Why or why not?
How has Social Media/Kardashian/Jenner beauty standards affected you? In a negative or positive way? Explain.
Have you ever found yourself judging someone because they don’t do their makeup a certain way to fit in with what everyone does?

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a makeup product? On a makeup shopping trip?

Makeup Artists:

What do you think of Overdrawn lips, Fake tan, fake eyelashes, and contouring for everyday wear?
Do you personally like to wear makeup? Do you wear it because it's expected?
What's the youngest age person you've been asked to apply beauty makeup on?
How do you feel when someone asks you to make them look like a "Kardashian/Jenner"?
Have you ever had a client ask you to stray from what's flattering on them so they can follow a makeup trend?
Is banana powder really good for all skin tones?
Do you see people wearing/requesting foundation darker than the rest of their body so they can look tan?
Do you ever feel pressured to follow certain beauty standards Social Media has put on you as an artist?

Thanks so much to everyone who is answering these to me and don't forget to let me know if you want me to link your social media (I might even add a photo of you if you send it/tag me in it when you answer), or if you want to remain anonymous.

Covergirl Full Lash Blast Review of Fame

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara
Covergirl
$7.99
Purchase here/Available for purchase anywhere Covergirl makeup is sold

Category: Drugstore

Intended for: Eyes

Texture: Not too watery, but not clumpy either. Really good for coating individual lashes.

Pigmentation: It’s pretty difficult to judge the pigmentation of a mascara. It is properly black, though I don’t know if it would very color wise on someone who doesn't already have black eyelashes.

Dupe For: N/A

Recommended For: Anyone looking for eyelashes that don’t crunch every time you blink

Likes: The brush is rubberized, which I feel like is best for separating and volumizing, the formula doesn't have any smell, can be layered for a more dramatic effect

Dislikes: It almost feels like the mascara never truly dries on your lashes

Versatility: This can be worn for any occasion, though it’s not waterproof, it does seem to be water resistant

Ease of Application: I love ever thing about the way this goes on, the brush is perfect, the formula is perfect. It’s mascara made easy. However, be careful when doing multiple coats because I did manage to stab my eye a couple times which I had never done before. It’s probably just user error

A closer look at the brush and bottle out of the packaging

In Conclusion: I’m going to be purchasing this when I run out. I love the Covergirl LashBlast Volume, and this is basically that but a much easier application and removal. When I first saw the commercials for this I couldn’t think of a reason to have my eyelashes be soft. The only person touching them is me, and I don’t ever care so long as they look good. However the “softness” factor is really helpful in a couple different ways. It’s easy to layer with this formula, because the lashes never get crunchy, so you can add a second coat of this or another mascara. When removing the mascara, feel like I pull out fewer eyelashes trying to get it off. With most mascaras, it doesn’t matter what kind of remover I use, I always lose a few lashes along the way, but with this the mascara comes off easily and doesn’t smear around my face too much.

Gbubbles Honey Soap Reviews

This week's review is going to be very short. I started the first of my many Gbubbles soap reviews with what I thought was going to be an amazing combination for my skin. For my face soap I used Greta's Virginia Honey bar soap, as honey is sort of the known as the cure all for skin. It's antibacterial, heals, and moisturizes your skin. Unless you're me (or one of the many people with sensitivities to pollen). Both the Honey and Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey soaps broke me out pretty badly. However, that's nothing against the quality of the soap. What doesn't work for me may work for you. Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey is one of Gbubbles most popular soaps, and for good reasons. Aside from the fact I reacted poorly to it, the process of using it was pleasant. It's a soft, moisturizing soap with oats in it as an exfoliant. All in all I would rate this soap a 2/5 for me, but as a soap in general I'd rate it a 4/5 (the Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey wasn't the easiest to use on a bath poof).

5 Reasons Why I Love the Glamglow Supermud Mask

5. It lives up to the hype!

I’ve been hoarding samples of the Glamglow Supermud mask for this reasons. Every time I go into Sephora with someone I find myself grabbing a sample of it to show them the amazing effects of the product, and normally end up with enough to do my face as well as theirs, plus some extra for spot treatments. Basically, this stuff is magic. It doesn’t dry out my already insanely dry skin, nor do I break out the next day. In fact in the three times I’ve been able to use it in the past week (which is how often the Glamglow websites “prescribes” it), it has changed the texture of my skin dramatically. My pores are smaller, my skin doesn’t feel like sandpaper to the touch, and my blackheads are either improving or are gone altogether in some places.

4. It’s actually a great value.

The price tag on this tiny jar is impressive. It’s a whopping 69 dollars for 1.2 fl. Oz. of product. However, when applied with a clean foundation brush, I can make one tiny sample size last me a whole week (using it 3 times a week per the website’s suggestion).  Considering the fact that some weeks I may use it less or not at all, and that I’ll spend more money buying different products trying to find something that works as well, 69 dollars isn’t a bad price for a jar I’m estimating could last me 6-12 months.

3. Watching the gunk being removed from your pores is grossly addicting.

I’ve got to admit what initially drew me to try the product was a picture I saw on Pinterest of this product drawing the oils out of the pores on a person’s nose. It was genuinely disturbing, so of course I had to have it. Without a doubt, it’s incredibly satisfying being able to see what it’s doing. Admittedly, it doesn’t rid your face of blackheads and blemishes in one use, but there is an improvement.

2. The drying time is next to nothing.

From the second you start spreading the mask onto your skin it starts drying. The instructions say you can leave it for 5, 10, or 20 minutes. I always try to leave it on for the 20 but I don’t think I’ve ever made it past 15. It doesn’t hurt but I’m not a fan of the tight feeling masks create when they’re dry. I integrated this into my beauty routine today while getting ready for Thanksgiving, and it didn’t add more than five minutes to it. Not only does it dry quickly but it rinses off easily with warm water and the help of a rag for the little nooks and crannies of your face (I’m looking at you, nose crease).

1. There aren’t a crazy amount of unnatural products in it.

This is massively important to me recently. I noticed that the more natural the product I use on my face, the better it feels. I’ll be doing a whole separate post about my skin care routine eventually, but for now let’s just talk about what this mask doesn’t have. Glamglow says their supermud mask does not contain:

  • Sulfates
  • Synthetic Dyes
  • Petrochemicals
  • Phthalates
  • GMOs
  • Triclosan

Guess what? All of those ingredients are not that good for you.

In conclusion, get the mask, but definitely make sure you try it out at least twice before investing that much money in it. While the mask works for me, it’s probably not going to work for everybody.

Disclaimer: I was not given anything for this post, I'm just very enthusiastic about the product!

Younique Thoughts (Part 1.5)

Today’s quick post is something I’ve been thinking about writing since the Younique party two weeks ago. This isn’t my part 2 post on the subject, but it’s about the Moonstrucks 3D Fiber Lashes that I got to try that day. We’ll call this Younique Thoughts (1.5). More specifically, it’s my first impression and why I chose not to purchase the product that the company seems to be most famous for.

That is 1 coat of the 3D Lashes
Don't worry Younique reps who read my blog, this is not a review of shame! Personally, every time I see people with naturally long eyelashes wearing this mascara, they always seem clumpy and spidery to me. It's likely that they're applying it the way someone who REALLY needs the fuller lash look would and are getting something that isn't soft or pretty (in my opinion), so for all you girls out there with long, full lashes, definitely take it easy on the fibers. The product is good, it's waterproof, and looked wonderful on many of the other women at the party, this is just a case of personal preferences, as well as proving that while a product may be wonderful, it's not always for everyone! Some of you girls may love the way that this looks, and if you do I say go for it! It's a great product that definitely lives up to the hype. In the several hours that I wore it, it did not flake, smear, or run when I started to tear up (no I wasn't crying, I was yawning)! So my verdict on the 3D lashes are if you really need the extra boost, or feel like you need it. It's definitely worth the money. However if you already have long full lashes you may be better off investing the money in another product that would benefit your more in the long run.

Younique Thoughts (Part 1)

Younique makeup products have become increasingly popular since their start a couple years ago. If you don’t know the couple by name, you probably know about their Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes. This mascara has become huge thanks to bloggers and other social media icons discovering it. The before and after pictures of this product are definitely nothing to bat your eyelashes at. Today I had the pleasure of attending a makeup party hosted by the friend of a Younique presenter. Normally, Younique parties in the past have always been held online, and presenters still aren't instructed or equipped properly to host a physical party. As a (soon to be) customer of the company, I find this really confusing. True, it’s easy to see the payoff of their famous mascara, but there are many other products that they sell that a person wouldn't be too keen to buy without an in person presentation of the product. It would be awfully easy for someone to buy the wrong shade of bb cream, foundation, or powder, and while Younique does have a good return policy, that’s just putting more stress and responsibility on their customers. This level of personal responsibility that comes with not being able to see a product in reality will automatically turn many people away. Which is a shame because the quality of product that Younique offers is for the most part worth the price tag. The presenter who did this party did an excellent job at explaining each product, the different uses, and then at the end of her little sales pitch we all had time to socialize, play with the makeup, and get a feel for the products we could be spending as much as 60 dollars on per item.

This woman's set up was lovely! From the moment I arrived I knew I had to have something!

The day finished in laughter in smiles as we all looked at each other and marveled at the makeup products we had a chance to try out. A couple of women at the party didn't wear makeup consistently, and while they weren't likely to purchase enough makeup to do their whole face, everyone had one product that they enjoyed enough to place an order for. Younique definitely needs to consider making home parties the norm for their company. While their ideology is sound. Making everything electronic definitely does save money, they're losing money by not letting women get together and test out some of their products in an environment they're comfortable in. It'll be interesting to see how Younique addresses this in the future as more and more presenters start to do this without company backing.
